(If you're wondering who I am or why I friended/defriended you, please read this post for more information. Thanks!)

Hmmm... where to start... At the time of this writing, I'm currently 28 29 sliding downhill towards 30 30 31 32 33 34 35 years old and I live in Philadelphia's Main Line. I have worked in the software industry for over 10 years now. Past jobs have had me working at places like TurnTide and Symantec. I currently work as a Software Engineer for an advertising company. Yes, I am on LinkedIn: View Douglas Muth's profile on LinkedIn

My main interests in life these days outside of all things computer is furry, or anthropomorphic animals, to be more specific.

As far as furry conventions go, I was condemned to Anthrocon's Board of Directors in 2003. My main responsibilities are running Convention Operations, or Con Ops for short. It's part customer service and part logistics and planning. I have regular dreams about working at the con, which is rather scary. As of 2009, I am also responsible for running the website and forums, and wrote the current pre-registration/onsite registration system.

For the curious, here is a list of furry (and other) conventions I've attended:

Anime Central: 2009
Anthrocon: 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011
Camp Feral: 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003
ConClave: 2005, 2006, 2007
Confluence: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011
DexCon: 2006
Eurofurence: 2004
FurFright: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010
Furry Connection North: 2008, 2009, 2011
MagFest: 2007, 2008, 2009
MarCon: 2007, 2008
Midwest FurFest: 2002, 2003, 2008, 2009, 2010
Otakon: 2003
Western PA Furry Weekend: 2010

Years with links are where I have photos online. Italicized years are where I worked staff. The Save Ardmore Coalition

So that's 49 conventions in all (33 furry, 16 non-furry). And that isn't even counting some of the smaller gatherings such as KainCon, Wuffmeet, and Dorsai Thing...

In March of 2008, I was inducted into the Dorsai Irregulars, a volunteer organization which performs security-related services for science fiction and furry conventions, including Anthrocon.

The South Ardmore Betterment Alliance My real life hobbies consist of things like bowling and strength training. When at home, I'm usually playing my Nintendo Wii or doing random programming or sysadmin projects. I am list owner of the PA-Furry mailing list, the owner of the Pennsylvania Furries website, and the SPAM-L mailing list. In 1997, I helped found CAUCE, an anti-spam group that advocated legislative approaches to the spam problem. I've been involved with the volunteer group Working to Halt Online Abuse for several years.

I also run the websites for some local civic groups, including The Save Ardmore Coalition (originally founded to fight eminent domain abuse in Ardmore, PA) and The South Ardmore Betterment Alliance.

I am a huge fan of the Drupal open source CMS and use it to manage several sites. I have also contributed several modules to the Drupal project: backup, sanity, and user_quota. I also maintain a command-line backup program which is Drupal version agnostic. I also wrote Anthrocon's Registration system as a Drupal module.

In 1998, I graduated from Allentown Business School (since renamed to Lehigh Valley College) with an Associate's Degree in Network Technology.

I have Macs with OS/X on the desktop, and Ubuntu Linux on the webserver.

My birthday is on Halloween. I have been told repeatedly that this explains a lot.

Some people ("Otaku") like Japan a lot. I am not one of them. I do however, like Denmark a lot. Why Denmark? Well, they were the first country in the world to legalize gay marriage--back in 1989. And in 1969, Denmark became the first country to legalize pornography. So if you are gay or like porn (or like gay porn), you should thank a Dane. :-) I also adore Dolph the Fascist Hippo, a satirical character on Danish television.

Not much else for me to say here, other than that if you want to learn more about me, a good starting place would be my website.
